Most wireless solutions today (4G/5G, WiFi, Satellite communication) utilize radio spectrum below 50GHz with over 95% of the communication taking place in frequency bands below 6GHz. WiRays® utilizes unlicensed optical spectra to achieve ultra-wideband, wireless communication. Optical spectrum offers enormous bandwidth for wireless communications. There are over 300,000 GHz of available bandwidth around visible spectrum (UV, Blue to Red, and IR) compared to less than 5GHz bandwidth available in usable radio bands! The first generation of WiRays® products use a narrow portion of Infra-red spectrum but the technology can be scaled to other portions of the optical spectrum.

- Blazing Speeds
Ultra-Fast wireless technology at fiber speeds – without the fiber. First generation WiRays® system is designed to reach 100 Gbps with minimal latency, so real-time communications is built-in. Terabit-per-second communication is coming soon! LUMEOVA has a robust product roadmap that scales the technology across the optical spectrum and can reach wireless speeds of 1000 Gbps (1 Terabit-per-second or 1 Tbps) in the next few years. For applications such as AI Computer Communications, several Tbps speeds can be achieved without electromagnetic interference (EMI) issues commonly encountered with copper connectivity on high-speed computer boards.

WiRays® is not designed to replace WiFi or 5G/6G cellular solutions. The technology is meant to complement and work with existing wireless technologies like WiFi and Cellular. 5G offers high-speed cellular connectivity over a wide area (kilometers) at very high degree of mobility (driving speed), WiFi typically delivers 10X higher speeds than 5G but in a smaller area (hundred meters range) suitable for in-building applications. WiRays® can offer a 10X speed advantage over latest generation WiFi7 in an indoor room or office setting. WiRays® can enhance connectivity experience and expand the use cases for real-time, ultra-high-speed applications.
- Mobile & Secure
WiRays® is designed to provide indoor home or office connectivity for mobile devices such as notebook computers, tablets, cell phones, VR gear and cameras as well as fixed devices such as high-resolution monitors and TVs. Multiple devices could be connected to broadband internet via indoor WiRays® access points. Since optical signals do not travel through walls, ceilings or floors, the ultra-wide bandwidth optical spectrum is solely dedicated to the indoor users and cannot be eavesdropped on or accessed by devices outside. This provides dedicated, ultrafast internet access to indoor devices with high degree of security. Furthermore, the WiRays® wireless optical communication is immune to radio interference from WiFi and cellular signals. This makes it specially attractive for applications such as 4K/8K TV video streaming and VR content viewing.
